Big show "Indulis and Arija – DZIRNĀM 41"

The dance legend "Indulis and Arija" will return during Patriot Week

At the request of the audience, on November 14, the ambitious dance performance "Indulis and Arija" of the Agra Danilevich dance school "Dzirnas" will return to Xiaomi Arena. In two shows - at 13.00 and 19.00 – more than 400 dancers, the chamber orchestra "Sinfonietta Rīga" and the mixed choir of the Riga Dome Choir School will meet on one stage, combining the choreography of Agra Daniļevičas, the original music of Valters Pūce and the direction of Intara Rešetin-Pēterson.

In November last year, "Indulis and Arya" was shown on the stage of Xiaomi Arena for only one day, and many did not get to experience it. However, the audience's interest did not end there - after the performance, the organizers received a series of questions and requests to repeat it. Therefore, a decision was made to tell this story again - especially at a symbolic time, during Patriot Week.

"I'm very pleased that what we did is needed by someone - that the audience wants a second portion. And "Indulis and Ārija" really suits Dzirna. There is the deepest essence of Dzirna - the middle of the forest, pure brains, strength, movement and the opportunity to tell this story in our own language. There is no single recipe for love, that's why it is eternal. I think this is the right time, place and time when, with our love for Latvia, we can to celebrate both Lāčplēš Day and Latvia's birthday. Patriot's Week is such an honor march of Latvianness and love of the motherland, and it's cool that we have found our key to this holiday - we can offer our holiday feeling to others and celebrate it ourselves," says Agris Daniļevičs, the choreographer of the performance.

"Indulis and Āria" is the meeting of Raina's story with Dzirn language - a technically powerful, physically demanding and emotionally saturated dance. It is not an attempt to leave Raini in the past - on the contrary, the performance seeks what this story means for us today. Choreographer Agris Daniļevičs turns Raina's world into a stage language characteristic of Dzirnė - an ambitious group dance, where the precision of movement, the dancers' technical mastery and physical strength become the means to express the story and emotions.

It is a story about love and choice, about belonging and freedom, about the inner strength of a person and the external forces that try to influence it. About the strength of the family and the values ​​that each generation inherits and must choose to protect. That's why the more than a century old work of Rainas still remains relevant today - especially at a time when questions about our land, identity and the ability to stand for what we believe in are very much alive again.

More than 300 students of Agra Danilevich dance school "Dzirnas", as well as TDA "Ogre" and TDA "Lielupe" dancers will take to the Xiaomi Arena stage. The ambitious composition of dancers allows Raina's story to gain scale - from the experience of one person to the power of the nation and community.

An important part of the show is the original music of Walter Pouce, which will be performed live at the Xiaomi Arena. The composer himself will perform a solo cello part, the chamber orchestra "Sinfonietta Rīga" under the direction of conductor Normunds Shne will play on stage, while the musical scope will be complemented by the mixed choir of the Riga Cathedral Choir School under the direction of conductor Jurģ Cābulis and the accompanying group.

"Indulis and Arija" is a patriotic story, but not a didactic one. This allows each viewer to find their own in it - a child can experience the scope of dance and music, a young person can see the issues of choice and freedom, and adults and grandparents can return to the story, the themes of which take on a different meaning over the years. It is a show for the whole family and several generations at once.
