"Look, this room..."

Nowadays, when time flies and so much must be done, a quiet evening among friends in a cozy room, where guests drink tea from a real samovar, is a rare luxury and warms the heart. It is an evening with songs and poetry that awakens the most varied feelings, both stirring the soul and giving hope. An evening when soul speaks to soul in one language, the language of true feeling, an evening in which we grow closer to one another.

In mid-December, the Moscow Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre opens a new performance space with an unusual name, “Kvartirnik”. A “kvartirnik” is the name for a small home concert that takes place in a singer’s or musician’s apartment (this tradition is especially popular in folk and rock music). The first Moscow Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre “Kvartirnik” will be dedicated to the work of poet and singer Bulat Okudzhava.

"Look, this room..." is a line from Okudzhava’s poem that most accurately expresses the essence of the new performance space - "look, this room..."...

...where you are always welcome...

...where soul speaks to soul...

...where, in your presence, the “kvartirnik” will be discovered anew each time - always unique and changing like a kaleidoscope...

Welcome!
