Lux Aeterna: Byzantine and Gregorian Chants by the ARTOS Choir

LUX AETERNA: Ancient chants of the East and West

The Byzantine choir “ARTOS” of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople from Vilnius will once again perform at St. John’s Church in Riga with a unique concert program featuring chants from two of the most influential vocal traditions in history, Byzantine and Gregorian.

On October 25, liturgical hymns will echo in the very heart of Riga, hymns that for centuries filled the mighty basilicas of Constantinople and the monasteries of Rome. In this program, "ARTOS" turns to renowned and deeply spiritual chants that stand at the summit of medieval musical art, bringing to life a language that has crossed the boundaries of time and space for more than a thousand years.

This music has a true magic that reaches beyond its historical significance. In the purity of the human voice and ancient melodies, the listener finds a rare state of inner peace, deep calm, and spiritual clarity.

We invite you to this special evening, where the ancient traditions of Europe meet in harmony. Discover the enduring beauty of "Lux Aeterna"!
