“My Path” - Vija Kurpniece art exhibition

“It is a privilege to record one’s path in colors, ink, with graphite or charcoal.

In works of art that gain ever new value over time,” says the artist.

Vija Kurpniece graduated from the Jelgava Children’s Art School, earning a diploma in visual arts, and continued her art studies by learning photography, painting at the “Vermilions” studio, and taking part in plein airs. Vija’s creative spirit has continually sought and found expression wherever she has worked - in the state administration, at the Auce City House of Culture, in work with young people, in developing the intellectual audio guide “Secrets of Vecauce Manor,” organizing the festival “Upside Down,” working with the Latvia Nature Fund, or now - at the Saldus Tourism Information, Culture and Sports Center.

The exhibition includes both carefully developed graphics, drawings, and paintings, and almost volcanic explosions of bright colors, with the artist fully surrendering to the flow and texture of color. The exhibition is both a summary and a new springboard for the artist’s authentic path. It is very much like Vija herself, dynamic, sparkling, and full of ideas, whose element is the wind, interacting with calm serenity, a willingness to give in to sparkling laughter, and creative flow. For Vija, art is a deep unity with herself. It is rest and laughter that dance on paper or canvas.

Since the exhibition opened, it has already visited Rucava, Lielauce, Kalsnava, Ukri, Bēne, Gulbene, Stāmeriena, Saldus, Jaunlutriņi, South Kurzeme, and elsewhere.

The exhibition in the Auce City Library exhibition space will be on view from September 3 to October 31.

Everyone is warmly invited!
