Think About Me for a Moment...

Experiencing and feeling the most beautiful time of the year, the anticipation of Christmas, the holiday itself, and that magical, wonder-filled moment when one year gives way to the next, let us allow the crisp air to vibrate with the words, poetry, feelings, and messages of Broņislava Martuževa.

Actress Dita Lūriņa and composer Uldis Marhilevičs are united by Liepāja, the City of the Wind. Meanwhile, for the composer, Broņislava Martuževa’s name calls to mind Latgale, his family, and his roots. Dita Lūriņa has had the special fortune of knowing the poet Broņislava Martuževa personally, of experiencing the radiance of her personality and inner strength. The actress’s mother-in-law, Anna Egliena, is the guardian, keeper, and transmitter of the poet’s home and literary legacy.

At the poet’s home, “Dārziņi,” in Lubāna, Madona region, the “Broņislava Martuževa Poetry Barn” has been created, whose chambers preserve not only Martuževa’s legacy, but through Martuževa, also testimonies to Latvia’s fate in the 20th century.

Broņislava Martuževa was a strong person, about whom one could say that she was not there at all, because war and Soviet power forced the young girl to hide underground, in her own home beneath the floorboards. Then came exile, return to Latvia, a ban on publishing, her first publications under another name...

And yet, such a strong and unbroken voice, such a brave and unyielding spirit, so much love!

It seems that this is exactly what we lack right now, in this world full of storms and upheaval, a single sure and strong voice full of love.

So let us await the most beautiful holidays of the year together with the poet Broņislava Martuževa, and feel how her poetry resounds in Uldis Marhilevičs’s sounds and melodies, how it echoes in the voice of actress Dita Lūriņa. The concert program’s musical sound will be enriched by Zane Biķe’s backing vocals.

Think about me for a moment,

Before the clocks strike twelve.

The bells begin to stir the air.

In this moment, think about me.

See you there, to think for a moment, to pause for a moment, to meet, and to experience a moment, to experience the holidays!
