Mārtiņš Brauns. Song About the Game

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invites you to celebrate the music of Mārtiņš Brauns. In 2026, when the outstanding Latvian composer would have turned 75, the audience-acclaimed and critically praised concert program “Mārtiņš Brauns. Song About the Game” returns to Liepāja.

On October 10 at the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”, listeners can look forward to an emotionally rich symphonic music experience. Under the baton of conductor Andris Veismanis, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra together with soloists Renārs Kaupers, Daumants Kalniņš and Ieva Kerēvica will perform both poignantly melancholic and ironically youthful songs that have won many hearts: “Song About the Game”, “Daugaviņa”, “Sing Along with Me, Maiden of the People”, “I Did Not Meet You”, “The Great Albert”, “Love Is Like Fire”, “The Eternal City” and others.

Emīls Zilberts’ masterfully crafted symphonic arrangements reveal the versatility of Brauns’ work, weaving popular music with the nuances of classical music and offering an exciting journey into the musical world of the legendary Latvian composer.

The concerts “Mārtiņš Brauns. Song About the Game” held in Liepāja in the summer of 2024 received wide acclaim, were nominated for the prestigious Latvian Public Media annual culture award “Kilograms of Culture 2024”, and won the audience vote prize in the category “Event”.

In the autumn of 2025, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra also performed in Cēsis, Rēzekne, Jelgava and Ventspils. This concert program has become a special meeting place for listeners of different generations and confirms the lasting significance of Mārtiņš Brauns’ music in Latvia’s cultural landscape.
