The production is based on Noël Coward's famous play Blithe Spirit, a vivid comedy in which reality intriguingly alternates with mysticism.

Blithe Spirit is Noël Coward's best-known and most successful play. Its 1941 premiere ran for 1,997 performances and set a national record, which was later surpassed only by Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.

The production combines the atmosphere of high-society comedy with elements of mysticism, creating a vivid and exciting theatrical performance.

One day, the successful writer Charles Condomine decides to hold a small séance in his home in order to observe the work of a medium and describe it in his new novel. The medium, Madame Arcati, accidentally summons the spirit of Charles's first deceased wife, Elvira, who immediately begins to clash with both her former husband and his new wife.

The spirit turns out to be uncontrollable - everything in the lives of all the characters is turned upside down. The unhappy husband tries to get rid of the "ghost of love," but it turns out to be anything but easy.

Why? Perhaps because it is hard to say goodbye to love, and the shadows of our passions accompany us all our lives? Or because it is never possible to get along with former wives, whether they are ghosts or not?

Avtandil Varsimashvili is one of the most well-known and distinctive contemporary Georgian theatre directors, a master of psychological tension and subtle dramaturgy. His productions stand out for their deep revelation of human character, impeccable sense of atmosphere, and ability to transform inner conflicts into gripping stage action.
