"A Year of Love"

Aleksandrs Čaks. Niks Matvejevs. Mārtiņš Vilsons

Love is like an anxious flight of dreams that visits an artist at the most unexpected moments. It gives rise to inspiration that belongs to love and passion in contrast to the everyday reality of the world.

Love for life and for woman.

Čaks was the soul of society - where Čaks was, there was life. Witty toasts, tributes to some quite ordinary women who, elevated by the poet, suddenly shone movingly. The emphasis on short skirts, the allure of a glance, sensual touches formed Čaks' erotic poetry, which was linked to a deeper, only dimly perceived sensuality.

Mārtiņš Vilsons' feeling for poetry and his way of presenting it take you across time, to where people kiss. Masculine and slightly vulnerable is the heart that Mārtiņš shares with his audience. Without shame and openly.

The evening's musical accompaniment is provided by Mārtiņš's voice and guitar.

The performance features songs by Niks Matvejevs with Čaks' poetry from the albums: "Songs for Girls" and "Confession".
