Beloved Things
“Beloved Things” is a story in which feelings become a guide that helps you not lose your way and hear yourself amid all the hustle and bustle. The performance takes you into a world of imagination, where there is a meeting with beloved things, or play companions, who unexpectedly become completely real. Through shared play, things are noticed, and new places are discovered in which feelings shine.
A moving and musical performance for children from 3 years of age, in which, by playing with imagination and experiencing feelings, the path toward the Universe is measured.
Can joy build a little bridge?
What is the dance of sadness like?
Is there an exercise for anger?
How long is boredom?
And how does tenderness sound when an argument has gotten in the way?

While creating the performance, director Kristīne Brīniņa paid special attention to the 3+ age group and reread various materials devoted to child development stages and psychology. Here are some facts about three-year-olds selected by Kristīne:
• At this age, it is important for the child to be helped to untangle complicated emotions and name them. By learning to name emotions, they can also express needs.
• At this stage, images, rhymes, and play are more important to the child than a linear story. Research concludes that unrestricted play helps children regulate emotions, plan, and solve problems. Through this play, in which the child reveals themselves, the world is revealed too, and they look into infinity, where everything is possible.
• At the age of three, children are interested in games with rhythms, rhymes, and the patterns of language. Unexpected wordplay and the connection between words and rhythm bring joy that encourages learning.
• Joking is an essential skill for a child’s development. Around the age of three and a half, a child understands their first joke. For many, visual images and rather direct jokes are especially amusing. Most children go through a poop, fart, and pee stage. This is very important in a child’s development, so laugh together with them.
• Play helps a child learn how to be with others and follow rules.
• The fantasy world is a place where emotions can develop and be practiced. One could say that fantasy, imagination, is the life laboratory of small children. It is there that they learn and grow as people.
