Monomusical "ONE"

“ONE” is the monomusical by composer, poet, and singer-songwriter Vaida Vovere. It is a story about the loss of first love, an alcoholic father who chose the bottle over his child, and the dream of musical theatre. This performance is also a continuation of her original music and poetry concert “Vārsmas,” for which the composer was nominated in 2023 for “Kilograms of Culture” in the “breakthrough” category. Vaida’s studies in the musical theatre department of the Riga Cathedral Choir School and her current studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre come together in mythical and vulnerable music that reaches all the way to sound destruction and moods from SoundCloud hip-hop and Broadway musicals. “ONE” searches for itself after an apparent collapse of the inner world, with poems, elements of physical theatre, music, and direct contact with the audience, revealing itself, creating itself anew, and arguing with itself.
