Monoopera "When Then Will You Have It?"
When I am asleep and awake, when I am alone and among people, when I am trying on clothes, when I am trying to go to work, when I listen to opinions and read comments, when I feel happily excited, when I do not believe and am afraid, when I feel strong, when I wonder whether this is even inspiring -
"When then will you have it?"
The experimental monoopera "When Then Will You Have It?" invites reflection on different situations in which social pressure pushes people to make various life decisions - to enroll in studies, buy a car, and for women - to have children. The opera's title refers to pregnancy and the waiting period, because its main character will be a woman - pregnant - yet the question "When then will you have it?" is also often asked of women for whom pregnancy is not relevant.
The score created by the young composer Žanete Spirka portrays a conversation between the female voice and electronics - an impulse and a catalyst of the situation.
The performance explores whether, after misunderstandings and doubt, we can hear ourselves.
