Network

Every evening, veteran National Channel news anchor Howard Beale brings us the day’s most important world events in stories and facts. But Howard’s ratings are not exactly shining, and the channel’s management decides to replace him with a younger colleague. Unhappy with this decision, Howard tells viewers that in his last broadcast he will commit suicide live on air. He becomes an instant sensation, and his following grows rapidly. National Channel realizes that entertainment is more profitable than news, and that news can be entertaining too, as long as there is an “angry old man” at the helm speaking blunt truths. As long as the ratings are high, everything is fine, right?
