The NGO House invites you to the seminar “Insurance in Volunteering: What Is Worth Knowing for NGO Event Organizers?”

The NGO House invites representatives of Riga’s non-governmental organizations, associations, and foundations to take part in the online seminar “Insurance in Volunteering: What Is Worth Knowing for NGO Event Organizers?”, which will take place on Wednesday, 11 November, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The seminar will be led by Inese Šubēvica, a volunteer work organizer in Latvia and abroad with 25 years of practical experience, an expert in inclusive volunteering, a lecturer at the University of Latvia, and a member of the Advisory Council on Volunteer Work of the Ministry of Welfare.

The aim of the seminar is to provide a practical understanding of the need for insurance in volunteer work and event organization, helping organizations assess possible risks, understand insurance options, and take care to protect the interests of both volunteers and the organization. The seminar will also look at various types of insurance that may be useful in organizing different events.

• •Risk assessment for determining the insurance premium;
• •Insurance cases in practice;
• •Raising resources to cover insurance costs.

Participants in the seminar will gain an understanding of the legal framework for volunteers’ insurance, different types of insurance, risk assessment, and costs. The knowledge gained will help them choose insurance solutions suited to the organization’s needs in both volunteer work and event organization. Participants will also gain practical insights by learning about the experience of other organizations and examples of good practice in insurance matters.

The seminar will be useful both for NGOs that already organize volunteer work and various events, and for those that are only planning to do so. Participants will be able to better understand insurance options and assess their organization’s needs in this area.
