NGO House invites you to an online seminar “Current Issues in Accounting for Associations”
The NGO House invites representatives of Riga nongovernmental organizations, associations and foundations, to take part in the online seminar “Current Issues in Accounting for Associations”, which will take place on Wednesday, 14 October, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Seminar participants will learn about the basic principles of accounting for associations and current requirements, including the legislation governing accounting, the preparation and storage of supporting documents, as well as the role of e-invoices and practical challenges. The maintenance of analytical registers and the recording of income and expenses from economic activity will also be discussed, with attention to the most important differences between accounting in commercial companies and nonprofit organizations. Participants will learn what needs to be done before preparing the annual report, how to conduct inventories of fixed assets, inventories and cash resources, how to separate income and expenses by period, compare receivables and liabilities, and determine whether an audit report is required.
Seminar program:
- •Accounting in associations - legislation governing accounting;
- •Analytical registers in bookkeeping using a single-entry or double-entry system;
- •Recording income and expenses from economic activity;
- •What needs to be done before preparing the annual report?
- •Tax legislation provisions applicable to associations.
The seminar will be led by Ingrīda Lejniece, a lecturer in accounting qualification courses and seminars, and author of articles on accounting and taxes.
