Opera "Nabucco"

The conceptual and philosophical basis of LNO’s stage version of Nabucco is time. The theme of time is also felt in the production’s visual design - it is the rhythm of the sun, the rhythm of the cycle of life, the rhythm of the cardinal points... But above all looms the judgment and assessment of the Higher Power of our actions, thoughts, and deeds.

"I can say with confidence that my career as a composer began with this opera," said G. Verdi. In 1840, after the deaths of both his children and his wife, G. Verdi fell into severe depression. Only two years later, in 1842, having overcome his inner crisis, the composer turned back to work and wrote Nabucco. The resounding triumph after the performance of Nabucco opened the era of G. Verdi’s operatic fame.
