TRUE NAKEDNESS / crime comedy / performance
A thriller-worthy crime comedy in two parts, “True Nakedness,” where suspense intertwines with sharp humor and unexpected twists. The play is by the outstanding contemporary French playwright Sébastien Thiéry. In France, the play has been nominated for the prestigious Molière Award.
A distinguished lawyer experiences a completely unexpected and very awkward morning - he wakes up at home, in bed, naked beside his colleague from work. No one has any idea how it happened, what they did, or why the situation is so absurd. When the lawyer’s wife suddenly arrives too, attempts to save his reputation and find a logical explanation turn into a chain of witty misunderstandings, and what seems like an innocent vaudeville grows into a brilliant absurd comedy.
The director of the performance, Intars Rešetins-Pētersons, reveals: “The greatest dramas do not come from facts, but from interpretations and fears; at the moment when social roles collapse, the truth is revealed, and it can be painful - and sometimes very funny.”
