Predators

The day came when the world became too heavy for me and I sank to my knees. Here, closer to the ground, it turned out to be easier to exist. I could not see so far ahead. I did not feel responsible. I let go of the thought that I could control everything. And I started moving on all fours.

Some people disappear into TV series, books, or theatre; others get carried away by video games or shopping, and many find fulfillment in strong ideologies, religions, or subcultures. This performance tells the story of people who seek comfort by distancing themselves from human overthinking and the layers of society, instead turning to instincts, impulses, and senses more commonly found in the animal world.

The performance “Predators,” based on documentary testimony and research into body movement, looks into the quadrobics subculture, which is interested in the physical existence of animals and strives to develop the beast-like way of moving on all fours. This identity is becoming increasingly visible among young people, offering a peculiar refuge from the reality created by civilization.

By joining the production, the audience will experience a kind of live game, in which three dancers and one actor, stepping into the skin of quadrobics practitioners, will compete against one another. By testing the strength and limits of their bodies, they will reveal the most important aspects of any community or hobby - excitement, a sense of belonging, and the chance to prove oneself outside the environment of work, school, or home.
