Practical training and a discussion about notable trees and the management of old trees

The forest park of Turaida Museum Reserve and its diverse natural environment will become a practical meeting place for park owners, managers, custodians of natural values, and other interested people.

Together with dendrologist and arborist Gvido Leiburgs, we will talk about the care of notable and old trees, seeking a balance between biodiversity, landscape aesthetics, and public safety. Gvido Leiburgs is an experienced dendrologist, arborist, ecologist, and nature expert with more than 25 years of professional experience in tree assessment and management in parks, gardens, and protected areas.

The Head of the Cultural Environment Department of Turaida Museum Reserve, Ilze Locāne, will introduce the special diversity of the Turaida forest park and the museum's experience in caring for and maintaining old trees. In the natural environment of Turaida, we will look at specific trees, their growing conditions, and management situations, discussing practical solutions for preserving the importance of old and biologically valuable trees in the landscape and in the habitat of the hermit beetle. The workshop will take place outdoors, even in bad weather.

The training is being held within the framework of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund project "Care of notable and old trees at Turaida Museum Reserve to improve the habitat of the hermit beetle," implemented by Turaida Museum Reserve in cooperation with the Turaida Museum Reserve Support Association.
