Writing Festival in Liepāja

The aim of the event is to promote the Latvian language as an important cultural value of Latvia, as well as to give everyone, both Latvians and non-Latvians, the opportunity to test and assess their Latvian writing skills by writing a dictation in Latvian.

In 2026, “Writing Festival” will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary in 2027 of Liepāja native, poet, and writer Olafs Gūtmanis. The dictation text will be created inspired by Olafs Gūtmanis’s stories, and it will be read to participants by actor Mārtiņš Vilsons. The musical performance featuring Olafs Gūtmanis’s words has been prepared by the band K.R.E.D.O. together with the Nīca men’s choir.
