A musical evening of humor to see out the old year and welcome the New Year

The turn of the year is inexorable! It does not account for global warming, does not delve into Cabinet regulations, does not take part in political intrigues, and turns a blind eye to the twists and turns of ordinary people’s lives. The turn of the year has only two reference points - December 31 and January 1. But all of us - the people of our own republic - are bound to these dates, and we divide life into two stages: the race to December 31 and a new life from January 1. The night of the turn of the year itself is merely a luxurious stop in this eternal circle, where the bus, train, or plane of life pulls in for about 8 hours.

After several years away, the much-loved humor evenings are returning to the theater club “Austrumu Robeža” with an exclusive and musical New Year program about the above, where in short, spirited sketches and musical numbers we will laugh together at our race to the turn of the year, the night of the turn of the year itself, and the beginning of a new life, coming to our senses on January 1, or sometimes January 2.

The humor evening “Republic at the Turn of the Year” is being created by the same creative core that made the previous humor evenings in the series “Our Own Republic” - Kārlis Anitens, Anna Šteina, and Zane Vaļicka (incidentally, their vocal-and-phonogram ensemble will also perform in this program). And of course, the creative core has also drawn in their wonderful colleagues - Zane Burnicka and Madara Zvagule - into its sparkling atomic mass. This six-piece from the theater club “Austrumu Robeža” has been together for many years and has made thousands of theatergoers smile and laugh.

At the humor evening “Republic at the Turn of the Year,” the audience can look forward to meeting colorful characters, recognizable situations, popular songs, and dances known by heart. In short, there is nothing new under the sun. If there is, you will be the first to know!
