Lamprey Day 2026

In autumn, Salacgrīva and Svētciems will once again celebrate our coast’s special tradition - the craft of lamprey fishing, its masters, and of course, the lampreys themselves!

From 10: 00 to 16:00, Salacgrīva and Svētciems will become places where fishing traditions, local people, artisans, entrepreneurs, and food lovers meet. Visitors will be able to get to know the traditions of lamprey fishing and the daily life of fishermen more closely, learn more about this ancient craft, and enjoy a variety of lamprey dishes and other local delicacies.

During the event, visitors will be able to learn about the traditions of lamprey fishing, discover more about the daily life of fishermen and the secrets of the craft, enjoy lamprey dishes and other local delicacies, as well as meet local entrepreneurs, artisans, and guardians of fishing traditions.

Alongside lamprey fishing and culinary heritage, the day will also include activities for families, creative workshops, sporting entertainment, offers from local producers and artisans, and other events that will allow both young and old to enjoy Lamprey Day.

Lamprey Day is an invitation to discover the fishing heritage of Salacgrīva and Svētciems, feel the autumn atmosphere by the sea, and experience a day together where traditions meet the present.
