Uldis Marhilevičs and Dita Lūriņa’s Christmas Concert

On the Second Day of Christmas, on December 26 at 6:00 PM at the VEF Culture Palace, composer Uldis Marhilevičs and Latvian National Theatre actress Dita Lūriņa invite you to a special program, “Think of Me a Little Longer.” «At the beginning of the concert, we will enjoy the poetry of Broņislava Martuževa, allowing listeners to look into the cycle of songs dedicated to the poet’s centenary and also to enjoy Broņislava Martuževa’s poetry in Dita’s reading. After that, there will be a look back at better-known Christmas songs, created during different periods of my work and this time performed in new arrangements - «Liesmiņa», «Iedomājies», etc. Of course, well-known world Christmas carols will also not be missing, and listeners will be able to join in,» Uldis Marhilevičs outlines the concert program.

Dita Lūriņa, in turn, adds about the first part of the concert program: «When I think of Broņislava, I feel that I am thinking of a strong person, although one could say that I am remembering a person who was, in a way, absent, because the war and Soviet rule forced the young girl to hide underground in her own home under the floorboards, then exile, and upon returning to Latvia, a ban on publishing, her first publications under another name... And yet such a strong and unbroken voice, such a brave and unyielding spirit, so much love. It seems that this is exactly what we are missing right now, in this world full of storms and upheaval, a single secure and strong voice full of love. That is why I invite you to feel how Broņislava’s poetry sounds in Uldis Marhilevičs’ melodies, how it echoes in my voice, that of actress Dita Lūriņa.»
