Farmers' Day in Kuldīga

On Friday, November 13, at 10:00 a.m., the Farmers' Day will take place at Kuldīga's Mārtiņzāle, Pilsētas laukums 4, and everyone from Kuldīga Municipality's farming community, as well as anyone interested, is invited.

The event is being organized by Kuldīga Municipality in cooperation with the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LLKC) to jointly discuss issues important to the sector, present available support opportunities, and provide practical, useful information.

Special attention on Farmers' Day will be given to the current situation in agriculture and future prospects. A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture will provide information on current developments in the sector, including challenges caused by weather conditions, as well as planned solutions.

An important part of the event will be devoted to financial literacy and opportunities for farm development. Swedbank agricultural expert Rolands Zeltiņš will speak about the importance of financial literacy in agriculture, while ALTUM's Kurzeme regional manager Ilze Zandberga will introduce the financing instruments available to farmers. Topics will include refinancing opportunities, as well as small loans in rural areas with capital discounts of up to 50%. This support is intended both for young farmers and for farms that want to diversify their activities, develop additional sectors, or introduce new products in agricultural production.

The event will also offer the chance to draw inspiration from the experience of local farmers - Ainis Ancāns, the owner of the farm “Kalna Ventinieki,” will share his story. Meanwhile, Daiga Mellere, head of the LLKC Kuldīga office, will talk about “Manslauks.lv,” a free electronic farm management system that helps farmers organize and monitor farm operations more conveniently.

Farmers' Day will be not only an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, but also to meet other farmers from the municipality, exchange experiences, and discuss current issues in an informal atmosphere.
