Santa Šillere in the Concert Program “Jazz and Christmas”

On December 13 at 4: 00 p.m. at the Gulbene Municipality Cultural Center, musician Santa Šillere’s holiday concert program, “Jazz and Christmas,” will be performed. The concert will feature arrangements of works by Raimonds Pauls, Uldis Marhilevičs, and Imants Kalniņš, along with the most popular international holiday classics and the musicians’ original compositions.

The evening promises a musical journey between the familiar and the new, between melodies preserved in our memories and sounds born in the freedom of improvisation. It is a conversation with time that makes you smile, reflect, and pause for a moment while embracing the holiday spirit. Over five years, the program has become a beloved holiday tradition that invites listeners each winter to feel the most beautiful time of the year and rediscover Christmas music in a jazz sound.

The anniversary year is also marked by the first “Jazz and Christmas” album, in which the program’s most beautiful melodies have been captured for the first time on vinyl.

The holiday atmosphere will be created by musicians well known on the Latvian jazz scene: jazz singer Santa Šillere, saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis, guitarist Jānis Pastars, organist Atis Andersons, double bassist Jānis Rubiks, and drummer Pauls Ķierpe.

The repertoire will include the most beloved Christmas melodies of all time in fresh jazz arrangements, original compositions, as well as works by Latvian composers in a new and previously unheard sound. Listeners can expect a warm, emotional, and sparkling concert evening where tradition meets improvisation, and the Christmas mood meets the freedom of jazz.
