Santa Šillere in the concert program “Jazz and Christmas”

Santa Šillere’s holiday concert program

“Jazz and Christmas” five-year anniversary concert will be heard at the Jelgava House of Culture.

The anniversary season will also be marked by the release of the program’s first album on vinyl, preserving the arrangements of pieces created and loved by listeners over the past five years.

Over the course of five years, “Jazz and Christmas” has become a beautiful holiday tradition, inviting listeners every winter to pause for a moment, feel the brightest time of the year, and rediscover Christmas music in a jazz sound.

The anniversary concert will feature works by Raimonds Pauls, Uldis Marhilēvičs, Imants Kalniņš and other Latvian composers in new arrangements, world-loved Christmas classics, as well as original compositions by the musicians. Familiar melodies will meet a new sound and the freedom of improvisation in the concert, creating a warm, sparkling and slightly unpredictable holiday evening.

This year’s special event is also the first “Jazz and Christmas” album, which will be released on vinyl in the anniversary season. It brings together the most beautiful melodies and arrangements from the program, allowing the holiday mood created over five concert seasons to continue living beyond the concert hall for the first time.

The holiday atmosphere on stage will be created by well-known musicians from the Latvian jazz scene - jazz singer Santa Šillere, saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis, guitarist Jānis Pastars, organist Atis Andersons, double bassist Jānis Rubiks and drummer Pauls Ķierpe. The concert will also be given a special atmosphere by the youth chamber choir “Vecrīga”.
