Santa Šillere’s Trio Concert Program “Jazz and Christmas” | Warm Letters
On December 20 at 5: 00 p.m., the holiday program “Jazz and Christmas” by musician Santa Šillere’s trio will be heard at Pegaza Viesistaba, where the spirit of Christmas meets the freedom of improvisation.
This evening will bring a musical journey between the familiar and the unexpected - between melodies preserved in our memories and new musical stories created right here, in the moment of the concert. The program will feature arrangements of works by Raimonds Pauls, Uldis Marhilevičs, and Imants Kalniņš, the world’s most beloved Christmas melodies, as well as original compositions created by the musicians themselves. Familiar songs will gain a new sound, while jazz improvisation will allow them to unfold from an unusual perspective.
The musical atmosphere of the festive evening will be created by three musicians from Latvia’s jazz scene - singer Santa Šillere, guitarist Jānis Pastars, and Hammond organ player Atis Andersons.
In Santa Šillere’s musical style, jazz traditions organically combine with influences from contemporary music, the freedom of improvisation, and emotional depth. Meanwhile, Jānis Pastars’ guitar sound and Atis Andersons’ versatile Hammond organ create a special musical space in which Christmas melodies gain both warmth and sparkling energy.
“Jazz and Christmas” will be an opportunity to pause for a moment in the year-end rush, listen to the music, and let the festive spirit arrive in its own rhythm.
Santa Šillere’s trio concert at Pegaza Viesistaba is part of the Advent concert series “Warm Letters,” taking place in December 2026 at Pegaza Pagalms. The series offers three concert programs of different genres, united by one common idea - to create more warmth, presence, and togetherness in the darkest time of the year.
The concert series will be complemented by the participatory art installation “The Wall of Warm Letters.” Everyone is invited to write warm words, wishes, or words of encouragement for the ambassadors of the campaign “Angels Above Latvia” - six children from different cities across Latvia. After the campaign, the letters will be delivered to the children, and during the concerts they will come together to form a special artwork.
“Warm Letters” is not just about enjoying music. It is a chance to become part of a beautiful story yourself - through your presence, a kind word, and a very simple but meaningful gesture.
On December 20 at 5: 00 p.m. we meet at Pegaza Viesistaba to share warmth and creativity!
The event is supported financially by the Liepāja Culture Department and the State Culture Capital Foundation.
