The Selonia Decorative Applied Art Exhibition “Canon” : Jēkabpils Municipality Culture Department
The Selonian Crafts Center “Rūme” spent the summer preparing for a major international art event. “The Selonia Decorative Applied Art Exhibition “Canon”” is a project supported by the “Selonia Cultural Program 2026” and the Jēkabpils Municipality Culture Department.
The exhibition will feature 12 artists representing different art genres and techniques. The unifying motif of the exhibition is the inner “cultural canon”, which reveals each creative personality’s connection to the historical, natural, or human values of Selonia, shaped in them by life and belonging to this region.
The exhibition will include ceramic sculptures made of chamotte by Anda Svarāne, felted wool sculptures and decorations by Eva Ķiķēna and Daina Poriete, photography by Mētra Daume, fused glass by Ingrīda Degtjarova, painting by Ieva Zinere, textile mosaics and textile sculptures by Ilona Linarte Ruža, Sarmīte Gailīte, Juris Efneris, and Ieva Svarāne, as well as jewelry and metal design by Arta Lindmane and Nauris Krastiņš.
The first exhibition will open on September 19 at 2:00 PM in the Open-Air Section “Sēļu sēta” of the Jēkabpils History Museum, which preserves many treasures and artifacts of our cultural and historical region.
On November 6 at 5: 00 PM, we will open the “Canon” exhibition at the Rokiškis District Museum, which is located in Selonia, on the Lithuanian side.
The project “The Selonia Decorative Applied Art Exhibition “Canon”” was implemented within the State Culture Capital Foundation’s targeted program project competition “Selonia Cultural Program 2026” under the “Development Program for Latvian Historical Lands”
