The Snow Queen

Little Gerda tirelessly searches for her missing friend Kai, whom the Snow Queen has lured away to her icy realm. To find him, Gerda is ready to face even the hardest trials. Although the story is not without dark and dangerous events, they are balanced by the certainty of good triumphing, as well as the playfulness, lightness, and splendor of the comic characters.

In this production, Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale "The Snow Queen" unfolds as a story about the power of love, loyalty, and the warmth of the heart. The director, together with the creative team, has highlighted the central idea of the fairy tale: even the coldest heart can be melted by selflessness, courage, and love. The classically staged rod puppet production takes the audience along Gerda’s journey from the warmth of home to the Snow Queen’s icy kingdom and back.
