The Bench

On a summer evening, two people meet on a park bench - a woman with the symbolic name Vera, and a man who feels trapped within the confines of his own biography. A light flirtation quickly turns into a sharp dialogue, leading the characters to unexpected discoveries and even more unexpected revelations. Will this meeting become the key to happiness that he and she have been searching for so long?

An almost detective melodrama with touches of tragicomedy blossoms into a vivid bouquet of emotions and feelings - from anger to tenderness, from suffering to delight, from despair to hope.

"The characters in this play will definitely be sitting in the audience," comments director Sergei Golomazov, "because this story resonates with many of our own experiences. It is the story of two people whose lives did not turn out the way they had hoped - both professionally and personally. People with difficult destinies, with failed loves, with unanswered questions. In a sense, our production is a continuation of Gogol's theme connected with the affirmation of love for the 'little man.' It is the theater's attempt to give hope to those who have lost it.
