Spooky Jazz & Burlesque | Zoe Stiefel & Volha&Bari Trio

On October 31, at the MASA jazz club we will traditionally host a special Halloween jazz concert, a very spooky and simply dreadful evening that will drive away all evil spirits until next year.

The roots of Halloween traditions can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when it was believed that on the night of October 31 the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead becomes especially thin. People dressed in masks and costumes, lit bonfires, and tried to protect themselves from wandering spirits.

On this evening, burlesque enchantress Zoe Stiefel will drive away the unclean with her characters and dance, while Volha & Bari Trio will summon the spirits of jazz legends from the other world so they can play together on the boundary between worlds.

Lineup:

Zoe Stiefel - burlesque performance

Volha & Bari - baritone saxophone, vocals

Santa Kauliņa - piano, vocals

Yurii Natsvlishvili - double bass
