International Choral Music Festival EUROPA CANTAT 2027 in Liepāja

From 9 to 15 August 2027, one of the most important events in European choral music – the international choral music festival EUROPA CANTAT 2027 – will take place in Liepāja. It will be part of the “Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027” programme.

The festival will bring together singers, conductors and choral music enthusiasts from various countries to make music together, discover new repertoire, experience different cultures and build international contacts. Throughout the week, Liepāja will host concerts and sing-alongs, opening and closing events, as well as performances by guest artists.

Around 3,000 participants will take part in about 40 ateliers, where, under the guidance of outstanding, internationally renowned conductors and industry professionals, they will explore a diverse choral repertoire – from Renaissance, Classical and Romantic music to contemporary choral music, opera and symphonic works, as well as pop, rock and jazz arrangements and choreographed performances. The atelier programme will offer a musical journey through Baltic and Nordic traditions, the musical character of Turkey, Greece, Ireland, the Alpine and Adriatic regions, as well as the rhythms characteristic of Latin American and Cameroonian (African) choral music. What is learned in the atelier rehearsals will be presented in special concerts at the festival finale.

The EUROPA CANTAT festival is organised by the European Choral Association – the largest European choral music organisation – the Liepāja 2027 Foundation and the Song Festival Society.
