THE STRONG SEX

an evening-long study in demography

For several decades now we have all known it - Latvians are dying out. In a few generations, fewer than a million people will live in Latvia, the proportion of elderly people in society will grow rapidly, and an ever smaller number of working people will have to support them - but why is nobody doing anything?

It turns out that "nobody" has a name too, and he is ready to change and to involve his friends in the adventure of saving Latvia... Only it turns out that even three friends agreeing on one rescue plan is very complicated, even if what has to be saved is only their own skin, not all of Latvia.

And it turns out that Latvia's demographic pit is just a good pretext to talk about what men have never been ready to admit out loud to anyone - they are hurting too.
