O. Henry “The Whirlpool of Life”. A story about a husband and wife who have grown so tired of each other that they must separate... When the justice of the peace, after overcoming a few unexpected obstacles, finally issues the separation papers, something unexpected happens...

Ray Bradbury “The Old Woman and Death”. What should a properly lived life be like - like a falling star or like dying embers under a thick layer of ash? What determines the quality of our lives - fear of life or of death?

Indulis Smiltēns “Blind Sunsets”. An unread Exupéry’s Little Prince, an incomprehended Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, Mozart’s Requiem, an undiscovered cosmos for those who have not gone beyond the place where the pine forests sway. “How poor I am...” concludes one of the people trapped in the elevator. “Impossible,” says the other fellow in misfortune, “you can’t be poor with two heavy suitcases like that!” It turns out that not all the riches of the world can be packed into suitcases.
