TDA “Teiksma” 80th Anniversary Concert “Teiksma’s DNA. Streamers of the Era”

What is “Teiksma”? What is it that has united dancers, choreographers, and generations for eight decades now, some of whose lives have been spent on the stage of the folk dance ensemble “Teiksma”? Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the ensemble invites you to a grand anniversary concert, “Teiksma’s DNA. Streamers of the Era,” which will take place on December 5 at 7:00 PM at Ķīpsala Hall. It will be a story of heritage, searching, generations of dancers, and the creative spirit that has shaped the ensemble over the decades.

The history of TDA “Teiksma” is not just years, names, and dances performed on stage. It is a current that flows from one generation to the next, preserving what matters while also being able to change with the times. The anniversary concert will seek an answer to the question of what shapes “Teiksma’s” identity and what makes a dancer belong to “Teiksma”?

Jānis Ērglis’s artistic vision, Sandis Kalniņš’s direction, and Kalvis Rudziš’s video materials will lead the audience into a space where time will briefly stop moving in one direction. The past will meet the present, archival moments will meet living movement, and eighty years of experience will meet the dancers who continue to write this “Teiksma” story today.

“Teiksma’s DNA. Streamers of the Era” invites the audience to look into the ensemble’s invisible code, what is passed from generation to generation, changes, searches, grows, and yet preserves its essence.
