The Red Barn

On the shore of the Baltic Sea stands a small red barn. It is a metaphor by Raimonds Staprāns, a Latvian émigré artist known as an expressionist realist. The barn takes on real contours and becomes a historical laboratory not only for events in Latvian and European history, but also a point of reference for the life and career of a vivid, resilient, and untamed artist. Alongside this, the color of San Francisco, the Latvian palette, the past, the present, feature film, and documentary textures all intertwine.
