Online lecture "History of Religions: Emperor Constantine and the First Ecumenical Councils"

The 4th and 5th centuries were a turning point in the history of Christianity: from a persecuted religion, it gradually became the faith of the Roman Empire.

We will discuss Constantine and the Edict of Milan, the Christianization of Armenia, Arianism and the Council of Nicaea, Julian the Apostate and Theodosius the Great.

We will learn how the church structure took shape, why theological disputes arose, and how the Ecumenical Councils of Ephesus and Chalcedon shaped the future history of Christianity.
