Synopsis

The film “Ulya” is an emotional story about identity and belonging set in Latvia in the 1960s. Ulya is a teenage Old Believer whose unusual height of almost two meters catches the attention of basketball coaches. She is taken to Riga, where she finds herself in a big city and a professional sports world that is unfamiliar to her. Struggling with inner doubts, the girl soon realizes that she must make the most important choice of her life - hide from the world or accept herself and become the best female basketball player in the world.
