Uļjana Semjonova. From Medumi to the Heights of the World

Place memory is shaped not only by buildings, landscapes, and events. It is shaped by the people who were born, raised, dreamed, and left their mark on their native land.

Uļjana Semjonova’s story is also the story of Medumi. It is the story of a person whose successful life path began in Medumi, in Augšdaugava Municipality, and took her out into the world, making her one of the brightest figures in Latvian and world sports.

On 30 October, an event dedicated to the memory of the outstanding basketball player will take place in Medumi.

It will begin at 5: 00 p.m., when the unveiling of the memorial plaque dedicated to Uļjana Semjonova will take place by Medumi Opportunity Primary School (18 Alejas Street).

At 6: 00 p.m., at the Medumi Community Center (2 Alejas Street), there will be a meeting with the creative team of the film Uļa and a screening of the film.

The event’s special guest: Andris Baltacis.

We invite the residents of Medumi and the surrounding area, sports fans, and everyone to come together and honor the memory of Uļjana Semjonova.
