Oskars knows the calendar by heart and goes for a walk every day, because it is good for him. Oskars has a mother, love, and friends, and he writes about all of them in his diary. Oskars replaces the lack of objective knowledge with a subjective view - says Pastor Arvīds. Oskars is liked by children and crazy pensioners. Oskars does not belong to reality. Oskars does not like to talk. Oskars has decided to make a show with his friends about the sadness that comes over people when joy turns out to be just an empty technique. But in order to make a good theatre performance, Oskars must find the courage and tell everyone about himself. That is where the catch is.

The hero of Andris Kalnozols’s brilliant and life-affirming debut novel “Calendar Calls Me,” Oskars, would probably never believe that a theatre production would one day be made about him. And yet he is exactly the kind of hero everyone needs today - with a pure soul, an original view of the order of things, and a bright heart.
