History Tuesday | Amateur Arts, Club and Restaurant Music in Ventspils, 1960s-1980s

During the years of Soviet occupation, all major companies in Ventspils had their own cultural centers. Taking part in one of the clubs' amateur arts groups was an important hobby for many people. Quite often, amateur work reached a professional level, for example the big band of the former Railway Workers' Club.

Restaurant musicians were mostly professional performers. In Ventspils, as a port city, restaurant music was of high quality both in repertoire and performance. History Tuesday will be led by Stella Lindenberga, head of the History Department. Admission is free.
