30th Anniversary Concert of the Middle-Generation Dance Group “Oglīte” FROM HEART TO HEART IN THE JOY OF DANCE

With a colorful and emotional concert, “From Heart to Heart in the Joy of Dance,” the middle-generation dance group “Oglīte” will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The fire of “Oglīte” burns alive and bright, ready to captivate everyone who joins in a shared journey of dance celebration.

Thirty years is an entire era, during which countless pairs of dance shoes have been worn down and the long hours of rehearsals, the brilliance of stage lights, moments of excitement and joy, and the strength of friendship and being together have all intertwined in a colorful thread. The concert “From Heart to Heart in the Joy of Dance” will be a story of enduring love for Latvian stage dance and for the people who devote their zest for life, energy, and love to dance day after day.

From a small group of like-minded people and the first dances with eight girls and a few men, over the years a large, united, and strong dance family has grown, led skillfully from the very first day by the group's founder, choreographer Jānis Marcinkevičs, and concertmaster Sandra Lūķe.

The anniversary concert will offer a broad spectrum of Latvian stage dance. Alongside choreographies by the masters of Latvian dance and the golden fund of Latvian stage dance, we will see dances created by Jānis Marcinkevičs that have achieved success in Latvia and in international competitions, as well as the work of other choreographers.

At “Oglīte”'s anniversary, two groups with whom “Oglīte” shares a close, inseparable, historical bond will be present: the children's folk dance ensemble “Dzirkstelīte,” led by Jānis Marcinkevičs, and the folk dance ensemble “Liesma,” under the direction of Gunta Rudene, as well as other longtime stage friends and like-minded partners - the middle-generation dance group “Virši” from Inčukalns (leader Andrs Briņķis), the middle-generation dance group “Druva” from Saldus (leader Laine Liepa), the middle-generation dance group “Made” from Madliena (leader Vineta Giņeviča), and the senior dance group “SenVija” from Riga (leader Antra Vilcāne).
