Viesturs Kairišs’ film “Ulja” in Cesvaine
On October 17 at 6: 00 p.m. at the Cesvaine Culture House, we invite you to watch the new Latvian feature film “Ulja” - a touching and inspiring story about growing up, courage, searching for one’s identity, and believing in yourself.
The film is set in Latvia in the late 1960s. At the center of the story is Ulja, a girl growing up in an isolated farmstead in a family of Old Believers. Her unusual height causes confusion among those around her, while for Ulja herself it becomes a reason to search for her place in the world. The girl’s life changes unexpectedly when a class photo falls into the hands of basketball coaches. Ulja is taken to Riga, and her path toward a world-class athlete’s destiny begins.
“Ulja” is a story not only about basketball and sporting achievements, but also about the ability to overcome doubt, accept yourself, and dare to follow your own path.
Admission fee - 3 EUR.
