Jūlija Šakele’s Exhibition “The Enchanting Needle” at Jaunbūve Cultural Space
From 9 October to 25 November, Jūlija Šakele’s exhibition “The Enchanting Needle” will be on view at Jaunbūve Cultural Space. The exhibition features paintings made in cross-stitch technique, inviting visitors to discover the diversity of embroidery and appreciate the delicacy of careful handcrafting.
Jūlija Šakele became passionate about embroidery in her school years, when she first learned the cross-stitch technique in handicraft classes. Over the years, embroidery has become an important form of her creative self-expression, bringing her both peace and satisfaction.
The exhibition will feature works of various themes - flowers, animals, natural landscapes, and portraits of people. The diversity of the works reveals the broad possibilities of cross-stitch and shows that with a needle and colorful threads it is possible to create expressive, nuanced, and painterly striking images.
The cross-stitch technique requires patience, precision, and care. Each stitch gradually forms the overall image, and it is precisely this unhurried creative process that gives the artist special satisfaction.
With this exhibition, the artist wants to introduce visitors to her creative world and show how fascinating and inspiring embroidery can be. The aim of the exhibition is also to encourage visitors to try cross-stitch themselves and perhaps discover a new hobby.
At the exhibition opening, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist, ask questions about her creative experience, and learn more about the nuances of the cross-stitch technique. Jūlija Šakele will share practical advice and methods that can make the embroidery process simpler and more creative.
We invite you to visit Jūlija Šakele’s exhibition “The Enchanting Needle” at Jaunbūve Cultural Space, Varšavas iela 14, and discover the diverse and creative world of embroidery!
The exhibition will be on view until 25 November.
