An exhibition of works by Laura Treimane-Saulāja, "Layers of Grounding"

From September 17 to November 7, 2026, the Bulduri Exhibition House will host sculptor Anna Egle’s solo exhibition “Sun Weave.” “Sun Weave” is Anna Egle’s latest series of sculptures, in which abstract forms, symbolically precise forms, and forms filled with images from the subconscious intertwine. Inspiration for the works is drawn from the aesthetics of dainas, Latvia’s nature, and the human body. The new series continues the sculptural cycle “Trejdeviņi,” which the artist began in 2024, this time focusing on the themes of connection, weaving, and wholeness.

The central image of the exhibition is the solar plexus - a place in the human body where countless nerve pathways meet and where different emotions can be physically felt, from tension and fear to joy and uplift. In the artist’s interpretation, it becomes a broader symbol of how human feelings, experiences, memories, and origins are interconnected.

The exhibition is structured as a multilayered story across three spatial zones - two indoors and one outdoors. In the first hall, each work speaks of some kind of treasure, which may be either a valuable experience or an expensive mistake.

The second space turns to origins - to the earth, to roots, and to the intergenerational bond. Mothers, grandmothers, children, and seeds become images that speak of what has been passed on, inherited, and of the strength that comes from human origin and the earth.

Part of the wall works on view in the exhibition were begun in the autumn of 2025 in Vilnius as small, jewelry-like works - symbols and dedications to teachers, mothers, and sources of human resources. The larger works, meanwhile, were created in the summer of 2026 in California, USA, where the artist took part in the process of sacred sculpture and new work creation, as well as in the bronze casting practice for a nine-meter-tall statue.

“Sun Weave” is not only a series of sculptures, it is an attempt to understand how separate forms, experiences, and memories come together into one whole, in the body, in space, in a person, and in time.

Anna Egle (b. 1990) received her master’s degree in sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia in 2017. Since 2011, she has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad. Her works have been shown, among others, at ZONAMACO in Mexico City, Vienna Contemporary in Vienna, and ArtVilnius in Vilnius, as well as in exhibitions in Latvia. The artist’s works are in private collections in the USA, Denmark, Austria, Latvia, and Lithuania. For more than ten years, Anna Egle has also worked on sacred sculpture projects in the USA.
