Kārlis Lācis | composer:

“I wanted a kind of minimalism and calm, when time flows and the music is a little hypnotic.

I wanted the tension of creation and the madness of inspiration.

I wanted to build not from the poem, but to deal with longer pieces of text while preserving melodicism and a form the listener can perceive.

I wanted to show the most beautiful nuances and shades of the female voice.

I wanted to play the piano myself.

I wanted to bring together friends to create and enjoy it together.

And just a little bit of Ziedonis’s wonder!”

Kaspars Znotiņš | actor:

“The lyrical heroes in this epiphanies program will be a kringle and a parquet board. Their muses, their twin friends - little glasses and a chandelier. Their homes are a matchbox and the middle of a ring. Their cafes are overgrown with dandelions and sorrel. In the rooms they plant bird cherries, and in the streets rhubarb bushes. The lyrical hero, in laziness, does not turn off the tap, and soon elephants are beautifully swimming through the streets of the city. Thunder goes around and frogs jump into the ditch. Our hero runs straight up into the air. But his friend still sees right through him. “Oh, chandelier, forgive me my love!”, says the parquet board. And the chandelier comes to him - with its light.”

Elīna Gediņa | director:

“Imants Ziedonis explains that epiphanies are small impulses, small flashes, in whose light certain moments in life shine especially brightly. Kārlis Lācis has clothed them in the language of music. “Ziedonis.Lācis.Epifānijas” is an event in which we invite people to celebrate the everyday and see the vivid and special within it!”
