On Saturday, 19 December, from 11:00 to 15:00, the winter solstice celebration and market will take place in Valmiermuiža.

For Latvians, the winter solstice has long been a very important holiday, when the victory of light over darkness is celebrated. At these celebrations, hosts laid generous holiday tables where there was no shortage of pork snout, peas, pies, or beer. On 19 December from 11:00 to 15:00, local producers from near and far will come to Valmiermuiža to offer those gathered hearty rural goods for the holiday table. Handmade crafts will make for fine gifts for yourself and your loved ones. The most enthusiastic visitors will be able to try to foretell what the coming year will be like and what to expect from it, while the youngest will have the chance to go horseback riding with the Valmiermuiža stable team. Cheerful musicians and mummers will join the celebration!

During the celebration, there will be an opportunity to enjoy delicious winter solstice holiday lunches at the Valmiermuiža beer kitchen.

The event is organized by the Valmiermuiža Cultural Society, with support from the Valmiermuiža Brewery, Valmiera Municipality, and ZAAO.
