The Ziņģe Grand Concert in Mežaparks

For the first time, the Ziņģe Grand Concert will take place, bringing together folk music groups and musicians in one place to celebrate the Latvian ziņģe tradition. Ziņģes are narrative songs that reflect different events in human life: love and relationships, family, work, everyday happenings, and also events of the era. They are characterized by plot-driven lyrics, in which humor and wit are often found alongside serious life stories. Although the stories of many ziņģes were created several decades ago, the tradition continues to live on today. Ziņģes are sung in families, folklore groups, dance evenings, and folk music events.

The concert will feature Teikas muzikanti, Zeidi, Kokle, Dzilna, Banga, Garataka, Skaņumāja musicians, and the Patjanko family band.
