Poetry Reading Evening “Three in Poetry – Fricis, Kirils, Ģirts”

On 23 September at 6: 00 PM, the National Museum of Latvian Literature and Music invites visitors for the second time to the poetry reading evening “Three in Poetry – Fricis, Kirils, Ģirts” at the exhibition “Procrastination and Creation” at 6 Mārstaļu Street in Old Riga.

At the poetry evening, actor Ģirts Krūmiņš will read works by two authors - the Latvian literary classic Fricis Bārda and the contemporary poet Kirils Ēcis. The evening’s musical atmosphere will be created by composer Jēkabs Nīmanis.

This will be the second time that the National Museum of Latvian Literature and Music offers a poetry program centered on a conversation across time between authors of different generations. Looking for what the two poets have in common, Ģirts Krūmiņš has said: “I was interested in whether there is some kind of core that remains beyond time and age. And I think there is.”

Speaking about the connection between the poetry of Fricis Bārda and Kirils Ēcis, the actor notes that “both poets, in their own style, way, and time, speak about the beauty of their world and life, which is hidden in everyday things and the nature around us. But maybe it is something else, something indescribable in words.”

The evening will invite listeners to experience poetry as a conversation between different eras, revealing how surprisingly close human feelings, thoughts, and perceptions of the world can be regardless of generation.
