The anniversary Latvian Orienteering Night will take place in Riga

On Friday, September 18, Riga will be one of 22 Latvian cities hosting the 10th Latvian Orienteering Night, a free rogaining competition for teams. The competition center will be located at the Ghetto Games area, 42 Pērnavas Street.

Over the past ten years, Latvian Orienteering Night has become one of the most anticipated autumn mass sports events in Latvia. Last year, the competition attracted a record number of participants in 21 cities - 6,107 people in 1,982 teams. This year, the jubilee event will take place in 22 Latvian cities, including Riga.

The competition will take place in a rogaining format with a maximum time limit of three hours. Teams of 2-5 people will receive a map with checkpoints and plan their own route to collect as many points as possible. It is not necessary to spend all three hours on the course - participants can choose a distance duration that suits their abilities and finish earlier as well. Therefore, Orienteering Night is suitable for both experienced orienteers and beginners and families with children. Participants will be able to start in OPEN, women’s, family, and veteran groups.

Competition program in Riga on September 18:

from 6:30 p.m. - participant number pickup;

from 7:00 p.m. - map pickup;

8:00 p.m. - start;

11:00 p.m. - finish;

around 11:15 p.m. - award ceremony.

Check-in at the checkpoints will take place with the QREvented app by scanning QR codes, so each team needs a charged mobile phone with the ability to install the app. Since the competition will take place during the dark hours of the day, participants should also make sure to bring reflectors and flashlights.

Participation is free of charge. Registration for the competition is open until 11:59 p.m. on September 14 at rogaining.lv/onakts/.

The winners of each participant group will be awarded medals and cups, while the other participants will have a chance to take part in a raffle for prizes provided by sponsors.
