Aigars Raumanis and Artūrs Noviks in the concert program DANCES FOR SAXOPHONE AND ACCORDION

The concert program features accordionist Artūrs Noviks and saxophonist Aigars Raumanis. The concert program “Dances for Saxophone and Accordion” is conceived as a vivid, temperamental, and stylistically diverse chamber music journey in which two exceptionally expressive instruments meet: the saxophone and the accordion. Both instruments are closely connected to the musical language of the 20th and 21st centuries, urban culture, dance rhythms, echoes of folk music, and the blending of genres. At the center of the program is dance as a universal musical and cultural phenomenon. Here it is not only a rhythmic impulse or a genre reference, but also a way of thinking: bodily energy, movement, dialogue. The program takes the listener through different geographical and stylistic spaces: from Astor Piazzolla’s nuevo tango aesthetics to Gorka Hermosa’s Iberian dance scenes, from the intensity of Latin American rhythms to Pedro Iturralde’s Greek-inspired festive atmosphere, from the French and world music colors of Richard Galliano to the Brazilian freedom and playfulness of Hermeto Pascoal.

The concert is supported by the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
